Why does Trump use social media so much?

Updated: Jun 6, 2019

It seems as though President Donald Trump uses social media all the time. And the scrutiny that he takes on there sometimes seems like too much to bear for the average human being. But Donald Trump has never been one to stand down to criticism or let it bother him.

I have heard many people in the past talk about how much Trump uses social media to talk about what is going on with him or in the political world. With that comes many questions as to why. And I think the answer is that is the best way to tell the entire truth to us.

There is no question the use of social media has skyrocketed since it first started, and that is where a majority of adults get their news, according to many established websites including Forbes and the Washington Post. It seems as though this would be the simple answer, and it does play a big part of it. People get their news from social media, so the President of the United States posts his news to social media.

But why not let Fox News and CNN do their jobs and post all about it through their use of social media? To skip the middle man. By avoiding Fox News and CNN posting it first, Trump merely avoids "fake news" skeptics.

Trump seems to constantly talk about "fake news" and how all of these big conglomerate news outlets twist his words and many others' words as well. So, by Trump posting to social media directly, people have a way of getting the whole truth directly from the source. Trump knows the best way to get information across to the most amount of people, and he takes full advantage of it.

In a day-and-age where social media use seems to be at an all-time high, it only seems appropriate that the leader of the free world uses social media to exercise his right to freedom of speech.
